Finish the Mission

Desiring God Conference 2011The 2011 Desiring God Conference is already in the history books. Hundreds of leaders from across North America converged on Minneapolis, Minnesota from September 23-25, 2011. Only time will tell the mighty impact this important event will have on God’s Kingdom.

The theme was ”Finish the Mission, for the Joy of All Peoples – Bringing the Gospel to the Unreached & Unengaged.” This was reflected in every session and workshop.

The Seed Company had four people there representing OneVerse. Your Seed Company blog editors interviewed Scottye Perry, one of our representatives. Here are some highlights…

As Scottye spent time at the booth, he was impressed by the many opportunities for ministry that God brought. He had the chance to pray with several people about what God was doing in their hearts at the conference.

Scottye shared, “This conference helped increase my awareness of the value for missions. Seeing the different missions groups represented there gave me a fuller picture than ever before of what God is doing around the world.”

A highlight was talking with a college student and seeing his obedience to Jesus by coming to the conference, without any finances beforehand. A few days before leaving, God unexpectedly provided all the money he needed to come and more! He invested the money left over in The Seed Company’s Bible translation work and in the ministry of other missions groups at the conference.

Scottye enjoyed explaining Bible poverty to those who came to the OneVerse booth: ”How can this be my God if he doesn’t speak my language?” That’s the cry of many people around the world who don’t have a single word of Scripture in their own language.

For a taste of the conference, you can watch John Piper’s interview with veteran missionaries Greg Livingstone and David Sitton. ”You will laugh and find your heart burning to be more like them.”

Finally, we would like to thank Desiring God Ministries for putting on an event that truly increases the Church’s involvement in the Great Commission!
