In Part 1, posted on December 17, I described a yearlong process of praying for my family’s house to sell in North Carolina. I left off with this cliff-hanger: “God, it feels like we’re carrying the weight of this house on our backs … Please relieve us of this burden!”
On December 20, my husband and I signed papers to take our house off the market. Without an imminent sale, we needed to shift gears. So we began preparing to rent and refinance. But the next day, we received a surprise phone call from our realtor. She asked, “Would you consider leaving your house on the market for one more day?” Someone wanted to make an offer. Ours was an easy decision.
We’re set to close on our house in mid-February. Praise God! He did not fail us. I repeat the psalmist’s words:
I love the Lord because he hears my voice
and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!
-Psalm 116:1–2, NLT
This miraculous answer to prayer has certainly fueled my desire to pray more, for bigger, better things—not necessarily houses, unless of course, you’ve got a house to sell. (My phone number is 555-555-5555.)
Seriously, though, I want to tell you about why you should commit to pray with us at The Seed Company. You will get answers. And therefore you’ll want to pray more: be it Bible translation, your church, your family or that house your neighbor is trying to sell.
Here are some teams who especially need prayer partners. Pick your spot on the globe:
Thank you for praying with our teams! (And thank you for praying for the sale of my house.)
