It’s the answer to the age-old question “How do you eat an elephant?” and it reflects the overwhelmed feeling many people have when facing an epic challenge (um, like eating an entire elephant).
One of the elephants I face every day is the Everest of prayer needs for all of our Bible translation projects around the world. And as we continue to start new projects nearly every week (a VERY good thing), it keeps getting bigger! I think of the scene in “Bruce Almighty” where Jim Carey’s character decides to put all the prayer needs on sticky notes.
As you might imagine, it can quickly get overwhelming. One of the ways we try to keep things “bite-sized” is through the Prayer Focus on our website. Every day we feature just one of our projects on the Prayer Focus. It includes a brief, but informative, background description as well as two or three specific prayer needs to provide focus for your prayers. A different project is featured each day to ensure that all the projects get covered with prayer.
I encourage you to make it part of your daily routine to visit the Prayer Focus and join in praying for each of our projects—one project at a time.
Because the other way to eat an elephant … is with a little help from your friends!
No elephants were harmed in the writing of this post.
