The Seed Company Earns The Mission Exchange’s 2011 eXcelerate Award for Innovation

Roy Peterson, accepting the eXcelerate Award(ARLINGTON, Texas) –The Seed Company, the fastest growing Bible translation organization in the world, is pleased to announce its recognition by The Mission Exchange as the recipient of the 2011 eXcelerate award for “innovation in mission” in the large organization category. The Seed Company was selected for this honor based on its work to fulfill the Great Commission through a variety of collaborative initiatives that have accelerated Bible translation around the world through the use of technology.

“We are humbled to be recognized in this way,” said Roy Peterson, president of The Seed Company. “Our team is committed to leveraging technology to bring God’s Word to every language without Scripture in this generation. These uses of technology linked with our field partnerships enable faster translation of the Word with broader impact on language communities.”

Through the use of solar-powered communications stations, including satellite receivers and laptops with proprietary software, The Seed Company connects many remote Bible translation teams to distant consultants through cloud-based servers. In one remote area in Asia, a crowdsourcing pilot project is increasing participation by the unreached people group and bringing with it more immediate impact of translated Scripture.

According to Steve Moore, president and CEO of The mission exchange, “The forward-thinking leadership and innovation demonstrated by The Seed Company reflects the commitment of the organization to use technology to spread the Good News. Based on their unique vision and capacity to deliver exciting technology, we gladly present them with the 2011 eXcelerate award.”

The award ceremony took place at the 2011 North American Mission Leaders Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., Friday, Sept. 30. The Seed Company’s accomplishment will also be featured in the fall edition of eXcelerate magazine, published by The Mission Exchange.
