The Seed Company :: Write the Word Wednesday {Instagram Link Up}…

Write the word, end bible poverty, the seed company

It all started with an idea.

Traci Veek (I’ll Take Tea), who began handwriting the scriptures for her own personal and spiritual growth, had an idea.  She felt led to broaden the handwriting of scripture concept, using it not for personal edification, but for Bible poverty awareness. With a new idea in hand, Traci began using social media outlets to share what she was doing and why. Before long, many across the nation began joining Traci, writing the word for Bible poverty awareness.  A community was born, a vision was cast.

If you are new to the #writetheWord concept, here are suggestions from Traci, herself:

  • Pray
    • Seek Him
    • Talk to your spouse
    • Ask the Lord to give you a deep seeded desire for Bible poverty awareness
  • Commitment
    • Commit time each day to write the Word
    • Start small (maybe begin writing  chapter a day)
    • Use social media to share your mission and raise awareness (#endBiblepoverty and #writetheWord on twitter)
    • Participate in The Seed Company Blog Instagram Link Up the first, second and third Wednesday of each month
  • Partner
    • Expand your immediate community by inviting friends, family, neighbors and acquaintences to cheer you on
    • Pray for and invite said friends, family, neighbors and aquaintences to join the #endBiblepoverty/#writetheWord journey
  • Supplies
    • A Bible, any version
    • Notebooks, any color/style
    • Writing instrument, one that writes well

Today is the FIRST #writetheWord/#endBiblePoverty Instagram Link up.  Instagram a photo you feel represents your #writetheWord experience and share it below.  After linking and following The Seed Company on twitter, please tweet your photo using the hashtags:  #writetheWord and #endBiblepoverty.  Once you’ve tweeted, hop over to our Facebook community ~ #WritetheWord ~ and “like” it.  Then, scoot on over to Pinerest and “pin” your image.  Additionally, if you’re a Google+ user, share your photo there, making sure to use the aforementioned hashtags.

Join the movement! Let’s do all we can to END BIBLE POVERTY.

Five Questions Every Donor Should Ask

writing checks (123rf)There are many opportunities to give to Great Commission mission agencies, but how do you know if your funds are helping to create lasting impact? Before you give to a mission organization, you want to hear solid answers to your most important questions. In the past you might have asked: How many people have been baptized? How many churches have been planted? How many disciples have been made?

In response, mission organizations developed ways of measuring their activities. To build credibility they applied scientific methods: focus groups, surveys, Likert scales, etc.

Maybe you also asked about the health and effectiveness of the organization: What does your board look like? Do you have a five-year plan with benchmarks? Do you conduct annual financial audits?

These are still good questions, but it’s likely that today you want to know even more before you decide to give. Most importantly, you need to ask the “so what” question:

What difference has your work made in the day-to-day lives of the people you serve?

He brings a unique, interdisciplinary perspective to missions in the 21st century — a combination of missiology, theology, Internet technology, strategic planning and strategic giving. But in his words, his passion is “whatever keeps things moving forward for the greatest possible results.”

FREE 40-day eBook Devotional…

Nearly 2,000 languages – 300 million people – worldwide still do not have one verse of scripture in their heart language.

300 million people…

I still have difficulty wrapping my mind around that fact.

There are people and people groups around the world who wake each morning and, unlike me, unlike you, do not have even one verse of God’s Word available in the language they understand.

300 million people…

To raise awareness of the need for the remaining Bibleless people groups worldwide, The Seed Company, through its Prayer Team, in combination with Seed Company Bloggers, has written a FREE 40-day eBook Devotional, “Jesus Brings Freedom”, just in time for Lent.

The Seed Company, 40-day eBook Devotional, Jesus Brings Freedom

(To download, click on above image.)

It is our hope and prayer that the eBook will inspire and bless current and future partners through this creative devotional component. We are also asking God to stir hearts during the 40 days of prayer for the Bibleless to join as partners with a specific project.

Additionally, we are asking God for prayer partners who will go to the throne on behalf of precious people groups who face fierce persecution and spiritual warfare daily.

God asks some to go.

The Spirit prompts many to give.

He calls us all to pray.

National Prayer Breakfast: Reflections & Dreams

Rita and I at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.

Rita and I at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.

What an experience it was to attend the National Prayer Breakfast. By now, the staff at the Hilton have long since cleared off the tables and stacked up the chairs. The event is over but hopefully, the impact will remain upon a few hearts. I know it will for Andrea Boccelli.

He was there to sing but he wanted to speak. The man, this amazingly talented man, who has stirred so many people through his music, was visibly and deeply moved. This will sound trite to the critic and overly simplistic to the sophisticated ear―He was moved to see political opponents praying together.

After requesting the microphone, he said that the political parties in Italy don’t speak to one another. Our praying people gave him hope. He is going home with a dream to bring national leaders together to pray. It was a humble moment and fitting because President Obama spoke on humility.  His speech is worth reading (click here). At one moment, he reflected on President Lincoln’s troubled life. He said, “And we know that he surely found solace in Scripture; that he could acknowledge his own doubts, that he was humbled in the face of the Lord.”

Like Andrea Boccelli, I was moved to see men and women―so full of passion, belief, and contention―bowing their heads as one to the One. I left with a dream too. Laying aside political differences for a moment, it was good to hear Scripture verses spoken by our President. I want to hear more.

I want to hear Bible passages from Hebrews and Isaiah shared by more presidents and citizens alike. I want to hear the Word being shared in my heart language and in thousands of heart languages. I want to hear about more people being “humbled in the face of the Lord”―like Lincoln and Boccelli and Obama.

Why?

Because, as our President humbly acknowledged, this changes everything! Spread the Word. In doing so, you will spread hope.

“For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the Lord.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

World Changers

Our partners are world changers. Evidence of that fills our newly released Annual Report. God has accomplished so much through people who invest in Bible translation. It’s an exciting time to be alive, to be a part of what He’s doing through partnerships worldwide, and to see how mother tongue Scripture is impacting the people groups He created!

In this 2012 Annual Report, you’ll see a number of highlights including:

  • Starting 115 new translation projects; 70 of which were first Scripture.
  • Cutting the translation time of the “JESUS” film by 50% during a pilot project.
  • Connecting 103 churches with “Least of These” people groups, doubling their missions giving.
  • Setting a new record of national translators in the Consultant Development Program.
  • Serving more than 1 billion people with translation in process.

I invite you to read through this report and pray for our amazing colleagues; men and women who are committed to sharing the Scriptures with their family, friends, and even strangers. As they lead, I invite you to join us as we move toward finishing the task.

We borrow the Apostle Paul’s words here:

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (Philippians 3:13-14, NLT).

Until all have heard.

Let God Transform You in 2013

In January 2013, The Seed Company’s prayer focus is “transformation.”

God does a powerful and transforming work through His Spirit and through His Word.

As we reflect on Romans 12:2 and other Scriptures around the theme of transformation, will you join us?

Romans 12:2 - Let God Transform You in 2013

Let’s “let God” transform us from the inside out in 2013.

Let’s pray that relationships with Jesus are ignited, hearts are changed forever, and nations rejoice as they become reconciled with their King.

Will you join us in prayer for transformation?
